Kent M. Swig is a truly noteworthy name in the United States real estate industry.
A graduate of Brown University with a degree in Chinese History, and student at Hastings College of Law, where he was selected for the Law Review, Kent Swig has held various career positions including at Swig Weiler and Dinner Development Company (now known as the Swig Company) and Macklowe Properties. Today, Kent Swig serves as President of Swig Equities LLC, an investment firm focusing in commercial and residential real estate in New York and California.
A member of the Board of Directors of the Alliance of Downtown New York, Kent Swig is active in the interests of his professional community. He is involved in several of the philanthropic projects spearheaded by the real estate community, serving on the Board of Directors of the Realty Foundation, the Board of Governors of the Association of Building Owners of New York (ABO),, The Police Museum, among various other organizations.
Kent Swig’s leadership activities extend beyond the world of real estate, and he has proven his commitment to community projects as a member of the Board of Trustees of Central Synagogue, Co-Chairman of the Real Estate Division of the State of Israel Bonds and a Board of Directors member of the Israel Bond Organization, as president of the American Friends of The Jaffa Institute, and with Big Brothers, Big Sisters of New York where he was honored as their Man of The Year in 2000. Swig is also active with political causes, including both BENS (Business Executive for National Security) and The United Nation Association of The United States of America (UNA-USA).
His range of business enterprises spans the entire nation. Kent Swig is President of Swig Equities, LLC, a real estate and development firm that concentrates on the acquisition and operations of properties in New York City and the State of California; owner of Falcon Pacific Construction, which handles the construction needs of Swig Equities; owner and co-chairman of Terra Holdings, which owns various leading residential real estate firms and brokerages (Brown Harris Stevens, Halstead Property Company, Feathered Nest) in and around New York, as well as the brokerage, appraisal, and consulting firm Vanderbilt Holdings; owner and President of Helmsley Spear, LLC, which was founded in 1866 and today continues to play a leading role in office and retail leasing, asset and property management, and investment sales; member of the Hudson Land Holdings LLC, a firm that focuses on title insurance for commercial and upscale residential properties in New York; and a Principal in the family-owned Swig Company, a private investment company based in San Francisco and New York.
Kent Swig’s accomplishments, both professional and public, have been well-recognized. After receiving the Man of the Year Award from Big Brothers/Big Sisters of New York in 2000, he was awarded Israel ’s Peace Medal in 2003 by the State of Israel Bonds (Real Estate and Construction Division), for his work there as Vice Chairman; named Person of the Year by AREW (Association of Women in Real Estate) in 2003; named by the Realty Foundation as New York ’s Man of the Year in 2005; and awarded the Police Hero Award by the Police Museum in 2007.
