Imaginry, an online children’s entertainment platform owned and operated by TOKO Innovation Studios, has raised approximately $450,000 through an angel funding round. The seed funding round was led by The 120 Media Collective Founder and CEO, Roopak Saluja, and several investors from the Indian Angel Network (IAN). Other participants included Rajasthan Angel Investor Network (RAIN), in addition to other individual angel investors. The funds are planned to be put into use for product development, content partnerships and user growth.
Aditya Mukherjee, CEO and co-founder of Imaginry, said, “We realised that children’s entertainment in India is still at a very nascent stage – so there is a huge market gap to be filled. With Toko, we aim to create a platform and a collaborative ecosystem that will revolutionize Indian children’s entertainment.”
Imaginry develops children’s content such as online games, cartoon videos, learning videos, animated shows, music, photos, factoids and art. The content can be watched on web and mobile browsers. The portal was established by Ajitsen Surendran, Aditya Mukherjee and Arnav Mukherjee in 2014.
On another successful front, IAN has had a series of angel investments this year. In January, they invested an undisclosed amount in DesignBids. In February, they invested in Styledotme, a mobile fashion application operated by StyleDotMe. In March, IAN invested $300K in SP Robotic Work – Chennai-based startup.
