CityShor, a lifestyle portal startup, has received funding from Gujarat Angel Investors Network (GAIN). CityShor is based in Ahmedabad and serves as a platform for local businesses to showcase their services, products and projects to the locals. It promotes the unexplored, unusual and original aspects of the lifestyle sector, including fashion, food, home decor and travel.
For the small to mid-size retailers, CityShor is their ‘hero’ since it enables them to get huge revenues, while helping the locals discover the latest happenings and events within the city. It was founded by Pankaj Pathak and Pallav Parikh in 2013. Initially, CityShor only operated in Ahmedabad but has, since then, expanded to Pune.
According to co-Founder Parikh, the main goal of generating capital was to expand their operations in Bengaluru, spread the company’s content distribution and strengthen their team. Co-Founder Pathak said that the dream that originally started in Ahmedabad, with a motto of providing the city’s news and events, will now be also offered in Bengaluru.
Gujarat Angel Investor Network is an angel network based in Vadodara, dedicated to funding startups and early stage companies in tier II or tier III cities. It bridges the gap between investors and startups in these cities. According to Piyush Agrawal, Founder of GAIN, CityShor is a big brand in Ahmedabad. For Agrawal, it’s a self-sufficient business with minor competition in India and the company fits very well with their investors’ philosophy.
