Beekeeper, an innovative mobile platform that enhances communication and engagement between employers and employees, has raised venture capital of $5 million through a seed financing round led by FYRFLY Venture Partners. Other participants in the financing round included Polytech Ecosystem Ventures, b-to-v Partners and angel investors including Niklas Ostberg and Ariel Luedi. The money will be used to promote growth of the firm’s employee communications product in various industries such as manufacturing, retail and hospitality. Philipp Stauffer, co-founder and general partner of FYRFLY Venture Partners has also joined Beekeeper’s board of directors.
Beekeeper uses a mobile platform to strengthen communication between employees and employers. The product is specially designed for blue-collar and service employees who do not sit at desks, work in shifts and are usually not involved in corporate management. The platform enhances significant dialogue and collaboration via multiple features, such as survey tools and feedback. It provides balanced analytics, security and scalability. Currently, the company has 50 enterprise customers with users in over 100 countries.
Cristian Grossmann, CEO of Beekeeper, said that his company connects employers and unconnected employees in meaningful, engaging and personal ways. The company is targeting to facilitate this connection for the 70% of global non-desktop employees.
Estimates of an industry research show that the enterprise collaboration market is projected to hit $70.61 billion by 2019. As a result, companies are likely to focus on accelerating the communication and involvement of employees so as to increase efficiency, as well as reduce turnover. This usually helps in giving non-desktop employees, who lack or have limited access to corporate email addresses and desktop computers, the ability to be more connected, informed and valued.
Beekeeper uses its secure and powerful mobile app to empower enterprises to go beyond the traditional methods of communication, such as email and bulletin boards. These enterprises are able to foster employee engagement and teamwork through different tools, such as peer-to-peer mobile messaging, advanced analytics, employee mobile surveys, communication streams, and smart automation.
FRHI Hotel and Resorts, one of Beekeeper’s clients and a top luxury hotel management firm, was recently given a prestigious award from Ragan under the category of ‘Best Employee Engagement’. Using FRHI Talk, a mobile communication solution developed by Beekeeper, FRHI has been able to connect more than 40,000 employees of 125 hotels in 35 countries in the past 2 years. FRHI Talk has brought a lot of success to the firm. The majority of employees have said that they feel more proud, inspired and an active part of the company after using FRHI Talk. This has significantly motivated them to perform better at work.
Grossmann also added that the use of two-way dialogue boosts employee zeal and cooperation, and generally enhances resourcefulness and productivity in a company.
